![]() | Pratiquement inconnu en France, John Ames Mitchell (1845-1918) appartient à l’Histoire des U.S.A. Il fut non seulement architecte, mais aussi artiste – il fut étudiant aux Beaux-Arts de Paris et a laissé à la postérité nombre de tableaux et d’illustrations ; écrivain – il a publié une douzaine d’ouvrages dont l’un, Amos Judd, fut porté à l’écran en 1922 sous le titre The Young Rajah, avec Rudolph Valentino dans le rôle principal. Mais, hommes d’affaires, son grand œuvre fut la création du magazine Life, qu’il dirigea jusqu’à sa mort. |
